Collaboration with Dream Nepal 2024

Dream Nepal is a non-governmental organization (NGO) established in late 2015 with the aim of creating and maintaining several homes in Kathmandu, Nepal. These homes are intended to provide shelter, food, medical care, education, and psychosocial support to children who are incarcerated in Nepal with their mothers because they lack someone to take care of them while their mothers serve their sentences. This initiative is known as the MalaHome Project. In response to the mothers’ requests, Dream Nepal rescues these children from the hostile environment and precarious situation of living in a prison. The organization seeks to provide them with equal opportunities for development as those living in freedom, giving them a chance for a better future.

Since 2016 until September 2023, Dream Nepal has established three foster homes where fifty-three children between the ages of five and seventeen reside. Additionally, there is an apartment where four young individuals, having reached the age of eighteen and transitioning from the MalaHome Project, are part of the Young Project. Under the guardianship of Dream Nepal, these young adults manage the apartment themselves. Through education and small supplementary jobs, they aim to enter the job market, eventually achieving social and economic independence.

Dream Nepal employs twenty individuals from the local community to directly manage the homes and oversee health, nutrition, education, and psychosocial programs. Furthermore, Dream Nepal’s projects significantly impact the socio-economic fabric of the region by sourcing all their food, educational, and resource needs from local businesses and professionals.

The donation made by Invest for children will be utilized to cover school expenses or food costs for a year for 18 of the children under their care.
