Collaboration with Institut Guttmann 2025

In 2025, Invest for children will continue the collaboration initiated in 2024 with the Institut Guttmann to enhance communication between patients and hospitals by modernising a mobile application specifically designed for them.

The aim is to enable patients to access their clinical information in a transparent and straightforward manner, just as they do with other mobile applications in their daily lives. This initiative not only seeks to facilitate access to medical data but also to strengthen the relationship between patients and the healthcare team.

In the first phase of the project, the connection between the medical records application and the patient registry was implemented. This means that users can now enter their personal data through the mobile application without needing to visit the hospital in person.

The next step was to integrate the application with the hospital information system. This involved establishing a seamless connection between the mobile application, the “Patient Folder” system, and the scheduling systems of the Institut Guttmann.

By the end of 2024, the Guttmann app will be in the final stage of its third update, marking a significant step in modernising the patient experience. With this new version, it will be possible to access the “Patient Folder” and check clinical schedules from anywhere, thereby optimising time management for both patients and healthcare professionals.

We are currently working on implementing the functionality to confirm or cancel appointments directly through the app, avoiding unnecessary visits and/or phone calls, and streamlining patient care. In addition, push notifications are being finalised so that patients can receive real-time alerts and reminders.

Finally, we have conducted a thorough review of the app’s accessibility to ensure that everyone, without exception, can benefit from these improvements.

This collaboration, which will be extended for another year, will benefit more than 30,000 registered patients at the Institut Guttmann hospitals in Badalona and Barcelona. The Institut Guttmann is committed to continuing to innovate and enhance the patient experience, and this initiative is just the beginning of a journey towards more patient-centred and technologically advanced healthcare.

The Institut Guttmann Foundation carries out its clinical, scientific, and social activities in two centres located in Badalona and central Barcelona, where it provides care for people with neurological disabilities and focuses on maintaining and improving their health and quality of life.

Its goal is to be a leading institution in Neurorehabilitation and Brain Health, generating knowledge and innovation in techniques and technologies within its scientific field to improve the prevention and outcomes of treatments for conditions affecting the nervous system.
